Clean The World

Information

  • Come out with us to volunteer at Clean the World! We will be helping to recycle old soaps/shampoos to send to people who need it!

Chemistry Halloween Social

  • October 29th, 2019 6-8pm in PSB 160

  • We will be having a Chemistry-Themed Costume Contest!

Next Experiment

Self-Assembly

  • We will use algae to demonstrate how substances can self assemble into important shapes like spheres, and to discuss how this impacts nanotechnology.

  • October 14th, at our regular general body meeting


National Chemistry Week

Program-In-A-Box

  • Discover how chemists are developing new technologies using metals at the intersection of organic and inorganic chemistry. From innovations in medical imaging and theranostics to fundamental changes to the way we create everyday necessities like clothing, food, and energy, these scientists will demonstrate how we can harness the power of our “marvelous metals.”

  • This will be on October 22nd from 6-8pm.

Mole Day

  • October, 23rd (10/23, get it?!?!) from 5-6pm in PSB 160

  • Come celebrate Avogadro’s Number

  • We will have crafts and a photo wall

Point System

Why do we have points?

  • Track attendance at meetings and events

  • Earn points to be eligible for 2020 ACS Conference in Philadelphia 

Overview

  • Meeting attendance = 1 point

    • Wearing ACS shirt = 1 point

    • Guest Speaker = 10 points

  • Social = 2 pts/hr

  • Volunteer = 3 pts/hr

  • Chemistry Related Volunteer = 5 pts/hr

Dues

Benefits

  • Eligible to vote and run for chair or officer positions

  • Access to KnightConnect to log volunteer hours and sign up for events

  • Opportunity to earn points for Philadelphia

Information

  • $15 for fall semester; $25 for both fall and spring

  • Due by week of October 1st

  • Pay via cash or card (can pay during meetings)
